about
This track is free to download but PLEASE CONSIDER donating $3 if you do. Any money generated initially goes to the performers of this song who have lost their income through coronavirus (I do not take money from this project personally). Any income is capped so that, should we generate more than 50% of lost income, anything else goes to charity (we are currently figuring out which would be most appropriate and helpful).
HOW THIS TRACK CAME ABOUT
Like everyone else, I've been overwhelmed by the pandemic. As a composer I felt pretty helpless I felt the only helpful thing I could possibly contribute might be to try to write a song.
At the same time I was seeing all my performer friends posting on Facebook about losing all their performances and so I had the idea to create this song and ask any singers who wished to participate to send me a video of them singing the song.
I didn't know what the lyric should be but on the same day I had this idea a friend posted on Facebook the words from Pope Francis that form the lyric of this song. I loved the sentiment and felt it expressed a universal hope and so the next morning I set them to music.
When We Return has been created in a spirit of wanting to share a feeling of hope in response to these difficult times. We hope that in seeing and hearing this song you share with us the hope of looking ahead and of being together again. Strength and courage.

lyrics
Tonight, before you fall asleep
Think about when you will return to the street
When we will hug again.
When all the shopping together will seem like a party.
Let's think about when the coffees will return to the bar
The small talk, the photos close to each other
We think about when it will be all a memory
We will go back to laughing together
We will go back to laughing together
We will go back to laughing together
Strength and courage
We will go back to laughing together
Strength and courage
We will go back to laughing together
Strength and courage
When normal things will seem a beautiful gift
We will love everything that before seemed dull
Every second will be precious
Swims at the sea, the sun till late, sunsets
We will go back to laughing together
We will go back to laughing together
We will go back to laughing together
Strength and courage
We will go back to laughing together
Strength and courage
We will go back to laughing together
Strength and courage
